Jaunpur Fort on Gomti riverbank
The Shahi Qila (Jaunpur Fort) was built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1362 AD on the bank of the Gomti River. The fort has a grand gateway known as the Shahi Darwaza. Inside the fort compound stands the Jhanjhari Mosque. The fort served as the seat of power for the Sharqi dynasty.
